It’s All Around Us: Australian Wildlife is an exhibition by local photographer Alexander Choi. He presents a selection of breathtaking and inspiring photographs of some of Australia’s beautiful creatures.

Alexander has a great passion for photography and began exploring this medium from the age of 13.
He loves to photograph wildlife, architecture and people.

Hurstville Museum & Gallery  is pleased to be hosting Alexander’s wonderful images.

Last chance to see Yanos Bouziokos' Seascapes and Landscapes from Greece!

If you haven't already popped along to Hurstville Museum & Gallery to see our amazing Dragon's Lair Gallery display, time is fast running out.

The exhibition Seascapes & Landscapes from Greece will be on show until the 28th of April. It's a great chance to see something different on display, as Yanos has put together an exhibition of stained glass and glass collage artworks. If you have a fascination with stained glass, an interest in Greece or just want to brighten your day by seeing something beautifiul, pop in any day this week to say hello!

All works are framed, backlit and for sale. You might even get to meet the artist, Yanos, who is often available to show and explain his artwork to you in more detail.

Yanos Bouzioukos was born in Athens in 1951. This exhibition reflects the seascapes and landscapes of his homeland through compositions of stained glass and glass-collage. Yanos has a strong background in working with glass, lecturing on Contemporary Glass Techniques in Wales and also teaching at the University of Sydney in the Glass Department. Today he lives and works in Sydney and hopes to demonstrate through this exhibition the multicultural nature of the community.

The Knitted Garden has arrived!

The Dragon’s Lair Gallery has been transformed into a magical garden display, which includes flowers, vegetables, animals, and teddy bear’s picnic scene – and they are all knitted! The exhibition was created by the Griffith Natty Knitters group, and was first exhibited at Griffith Regional Art Gallery in 2010. It took 2 years, over 25,000 grams of yarn, and the input of hundreds of people to complete. The Knitted Garden is artwork of a different kind – and you can see the hours of painstaking work that went into creating each design. Some patterns were developed through trial and error, or were sent through from friends and relatives overseas.

The exhibition will be on show until Sunday 24 June, and volunteer knitters will be onsite most afternoons and weekends. Why not join Penshurst Purlers as they knit squares for Wrap With Love on Thursday 21 June from 2.00 – 3.30pm?
