It has often been said that if a person possesses good health, they possess one of the greatest human blessings. It is interesting to note that many of the New Year’s Resolutions that we make, revolve around health; we want to lose weight, get fit, stop smoking, stop drinking and to generally lead healthier lifestyles.
Many people “google” information on health issues on the internet, but they don’t always find reliable or authentic information. Hurstville Library has a great health database called Consumer Health Complete which contains information on mainstream and complementary medicine. Library members can access information on a variety of topic including aging, cancer, diabetes, drugs and alcohol, and nutrition and dietetics.
A couple of years ago, one of my sisters became ill with acute myeloid leukaemia. I was able to access some fantastic information which gave me a greater understanding of the disease and made me feel better able to cope with the situation. Consumer Health Complete provides reliable health information at your fingertips – just log in from home (or in the library) using your Hurstville library card.
