Bringing books and people together

If you've ever aspired to that most noble of professions - the Librarian - heed this educational film from 1946 for a 'startlingly accurate' depiction of what we do.




Yes, that's right you too can "...derive satisfaction from the knowledge that your work is vital and essential in forming the kind of world in which you want to live." Even without PCs and research databases and online assistance and eBooks and, and...other stuff, the essence of a librarian's work is surprisingly similar to what it was 64 years (and more) ago and will probably continue to remain the same.

Despite popular opinion, being bilingual in Dewey Decimal is not a prerequisite.
