Winner announced for August in the LMG Digital Photography Competition

The judges for the LMG Digital Photography Competition met last week to select the winner for the August heat. Judges looked for the photos displaying great technical ability, while best addressing the theme of Question.

The judges ended up narrowing the pool down to two entries. Firstly, they thought this photo beautifully contrasted the colour of the guitar against the black and white ambiance of the surrounding scenery. They began to wonder about a poetic life as a rogue traveller, leading them to question the kind of stories behind the lonely traveller and their guitar.

However, after careful discussion and consideration, the judges thought this photo best represented this month's theme. They thought the photo was a powerful representation of one's faith and the difficult questions we all ask ourselves during tough times. The judges also felt the sharp focus on the charms in contrast with the blurred figure of the girl-in-question, expressed a well balanced photographic technique. Congratulations to Ashleigh for her submission.

The Judges were so impressed by the photos in August, they cannot wait to see what September produces. The theme for September is "Grow". Decipher your Dreams

Ever had a dream that didn't make sense?

The strangest dream I can remember involved me marrying a seal. Needless to say I woke up feeling confused and a little alarmed. Perhaps if I had taken the time to read a book about dream interpretation I could have put my mind at ease.

According to The Illustrated A-Z of Understanding Dreams the language of dreams is both literal and symbolic. Dreaming of marriage signifies relationship issues, whilst dreaming of seals represents issues we are trying to weigh up. Apparently my subconcious was trying to tell me something.

Living in the Library

Hurstville City Library has a new resident this week. A living statue has made our Dora Street window her home between 4:30 and 5:30 in the afternoon.She has taken up lodgings during Library Week and is a master of disguise adopting a different persona each day.

Visitors and onlookers have been amazed by the variety of costume choices from relaxed travel gear to lycra superhero clothes to a period gothic dress. She is surrounded by an assortment of books relating to the National Year of Reading monthly theme of Escape and can often be seen perusing their contents.

Rumor has it today is the last day she will appear. I wonder what her disguise will be?
