Maudie's Boots - The Story of the NSW Ladies Rugby Football League, 1921

Did you know that in September 1921, two women's rugby league teams played a match at the Agricultural Showgrounds in Sydney that was watched by up to 30, 000 spectators? Hurstville City Museum & Gallery is pleased to announce that historian and 2009 Tom Brock Scholarship winner Katherine Haines will be speaking on this historic match this Sunday 4 December 2011 from 3pm - 4pm. Join Katherine for a fascinating discussion on this important yet little-known event and its importance in the history of women's sport in Australia. Katherine is currently researching this topic for a doctoral thesis and would like to hear from anyone who may know something about the match or the people involved with it.
